Iodine Allergy?
How many of your patients believe they have an allergy to Iodine and not just a sensitivity? What is your method of prepping these patients? Do you refuse to inject them if they refuse Povidone?
Re: Iodine Allergy?
All are still injected, and we clean around the eye with chlorahexidine instead.

Re: Iodine Allergy?
We use Chlorhexidine to the skin BUT administer drops of Povidone 5% into the eye. Most our Iodine "allergy" patients are happy with this (especially if the eye is thoroughly rinsed afterwards). We do have the odd few though that also refuse this weaker solution, and we are currently debating whether we should refuse to inject them.

We still inject and use chlorhexidine around the eye . It is difficult to convince them that it is not allergic reaction. However we have some patients happy to use iodine and rinsed afterwards.
